What Happens When a Document Is Flagged as Fraudulent?
During verification, INMYNAMEKYC uses advanced security checks to confirm your ID is genuine. If your document is flagged as suspicious or potentially fraudulent, this does not mean you have done anything wrong.
Most cases are caused by technical factors — not intentional fraud.
Why your document may be flagged
A document may be flagged because of:
- Poor image quality
- Damaged or worn identity documents
- Lighting issues or glare
- Security features not visible in the photo
- Details that don’t match your onboarding information
- Use of an older ID format
- Digital edits detected automatically
- Regional documents with high fraud risk
Our goal is to protect your identity and prevent fraudulent activity, even when checks need a closer look.
What happens next
1. Automatic review
If the system detects an inconsistency, your verification may require a manual review by trained specialists.
2. Law firm notification (where required)
Your law firm is notified that verification is under review and will contact you if additional steps are needed.
3. You may be asked to retake photos
If the issue relates to image quality or lighting, you may be prompted to:
- Retake your document
- Submit a clearer photo
- Adjust your environment
4. You may be asked for an alternative document
If your ID type is consistently failing — for example, due to low security features — your legal representative may ask for a more secure alternative.
Does this mean I’m suspected of fraud?
No.
Most flagged documents are legitimate. Flags are triggered by automated systems designed to detect signs commonly associated with fraud — not to accuse you of wrongdoing.
How to avoid flags in future attempts
- Use a well-lit environment
- Place the document on a flat, dark background
- Ensure no glare or reflections
- Avoid zooming or cropping
- Capture all edges and details clearly
